This week, we heard from Danielle Madry about her experience!

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Hi there, my name is Danielle and I'm originally from North Carolina. I'm a proud mother and an avid web and app developer. When I'm not busy coding, you can usually find me networking at tech conferences or spending quality time with my family.

Can you describe how you first became involved in the tech industry?

In 2013, I started out as a technical support representative for a software company. However, I truly immersed myself in the technical field when I joined Career Karma in 2019. Through this community, I attended coding bootcamps and continue to be involved with the group today.

What motivated you to apply for the fellowship program?

I was attracted to the fellowship program for the opportunity to learn while building projects in a supportive and inclusive environment. Paloma, the program coordinator, was incredibly kind and understanding, which made me feel even more excited about participating.

What are your goals for the fellowship?

I'm eager to expand my knowledge and skills, especially in regards to best practices in open source development. Although there's a lot of information to absorb, I've found the whole process to be incredibly rewarding. Being able to gain hands-on experience while learning has been amazing and I'm excited to continue growing as a developer.
