We had a chat with Rajene Harris to talk about what she’s up to and hoping to get out of the fellowship. Here’s what she had to say!
I got involved in the tech industry through hackathons and past internships. I’m a junior developer with three internships under my belt, along with one year of professional backend experience. I have a special interest in developing user interfaces that are accessible to all users, and the Ruby/Rails environment.
I was attracted to the fellowship to learn more about open source, and to gain more full-stack experience. I love the idea of learning more about technologies that are open for all communities, and technologies that anyone can contribute to.
I’m hoping to get a better understanding of open source software, from conception to the final stages of development.
I’ve been learning about testing, user centric design, and user research. The main surprise I’ve come across is the amount of time and resources put into user research.
I’m looking forward to contributing to a web application that will be user facing. Most of the development I’ve done has been strictly on the backend.
I'm so excited to join this new project with an amazing team at Sauce Labs! And a big thank you to the Community Team for putting together such a diverse and rich fellowship. I'm so excited to get more Ruby/Rails experience and learn more about Selenium!
